Acheritou: a village and its new home
Acheritou is a farming village in eastern Famagusta District, close to the Dhekelia base area. The original settlement has been under de facto northern administration since 1974, and its displaced residents built a refugee settlement nearby.
The feast of Panayia Soumela on 15 August and the name day of Ayios Demetrios on 26 October still gather the community. If your family comes from Acheritou, help us record its story.
